Seccond Angels Message

May 13, 2009

  • When was the second angel’s message given?
    • The second angels message was given in the summer of 1844
  • Who did the second angel’s message have a more direct application to?
    • To the advent people who herd the first angels message and left the churches after they were oppressed
  • Why was the second angel’s message given?
    • Because the churches trusted in there own strength and placed themselves where they could no longer see the light.
  • What were the consequences to the churches when they rejected the first angel’s message?  [A how problem]
    • When the churches rejected the first angels message the lord rejected them.
    • When the churches spurned the counsel of God by rejecting the Advent message, the Lord rejected them. The first angel was followed by a second, proclaiming, “Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.” [REV. 14:8]
  • What is the “action step” of the second angel’s message?
    • The action step of the second angels message was the angel telling the followers to remove themselves from the now corrupt churches and of course only if they listened to the first angel’s message could they heed the second.
  • When was the climactic closing up of the second angel’s message?
    • The climatic close up was October 22 1844
  • What was the Midnight Cry?
    • The midnight cry was the angel saying “ Behold, the Bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet Him!”
  • When was the Midnight Cry given?
    • Once the second angels message was preached then the angel announced the midnight cry
  • What was the purpose of the Midnight Cry?

§ The midnight cry was to give the second angels message power and urgency. Those entrusted with the cry made haste, and in the power of the Holy Spirit sounded the message, and aroused their discouraged brethren. This work did not stand in the wisdom and learning of men, but in the power of God, and His saints who heard the cry could not resist it. The most spiritual received this message first, and those who had formerly led in the work were the last to receive and help swell the cry, “Behold, the Bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet Him!” {EW 238.2}.

  • For those who had received the first angel’s message, how did the Midnight Cry prepare them to enter with Jesus by faith into the most holy place of the heavenly sanctuary?
    • For those who received the first angel’s message when the midnight cry came it encouraged them and the saints could not resist the cry. In every part of the land, light was given upon the second angel’s message, and the cry melted the hearts of thousands. It went from city to city, and from village to village, until the waiting people of God were fully aroused. In many churches the message was not permitted to be given, and a large company who had the living testimony left these fallen churches. A mighty work was accomplished by the midnight cry. The message was heart-searching, leading the believers to seek a living experience for themselves. They knew that they could not lean upon one another. {EW 238.3}
  • Just as Jesus cleansed the temple both at the beginning and at the end of His public ministry, so in the last work for the warning of the world, two distinct calls are made to the churches. What are the two distinct calls to the churches, and when are these two calls made?
    • The two calls were telling them to get out of the churches and that Christ is coming
  • Why are there only two distinct calls made to the churches?
    • There are only two distinct because God still has people in Babylon that love him so he is giving them time to stop sinning and leave before the judgment comes. Revelation 18 points to the time when, as the result of rejecting the threefold warning of Revelation 14:6-12, the church will have fully reached the condition foretold by the second angel, and the people of God still in Babylon will be called upon to separate from her communion. This message is the last that will ever be given to the world; and it will accomplish its work.

The Seven Seals

The first seal is represented as a white horse white is the color of purity therefore the white horse is pure and true. When the first beast speaks the white horse rides out to get the advent people they are the people that go out at the first and second angles messages, these messages were a sign to go into the most holy place where Christ’s final atonement work for his people would take place.

The second seal is a red horse which represents the people who saw the truth but rejected it and soon they will turn into the third seal. The black horse is the third seal and in the black horse there is no truth whatsoever the people who turn into the black horse is Babylon which relates to the second angels message “Babylon is fallen”. The rider of the black horse holds a balance and a voice says “Don’t hurt the oil and the wine” the wine represents Christ’s blood. The black horse now becomes pale because of the Sunday law and the horse dies and his riders name is death this is the completion of the fall of Babylon.

The fifth seal John saw that the souls that were slain for Christ were judged then went to rest awhile longer while other followers of Christ were slain then the final warning came.

The sixth and seventh seals are both about Christ’s second coming the sixth seal tells about the wickeds response to Christ’s second coming whereas the seventh seal tells of the righteous response to his second coming.

The sixth seal shows how the sun darkens and the earth shakes and the mountains move and all the people of the earth cried to the mountains for the rocks to fall on them and hide them from the wrath of the Lord.

The seventh seal is then opened and there is a period of half an hour where there is silence then when there is a loud cry that announces “Who shall be able to stand?” as this is said the angels stop there singing and there is silence then Jesus speaks and says “My grace is sufficient for you.” then everyone that have followed Christ with there whole hearts there faces light up and joy fills them then the angels start to sing once again and descend closer to earth.

The First Angels Message

Who gives the first angel’s message?

  • We are to give the first and second messages to all the world

When was the first angel’s message first given?

  • 1843-1844

Where did the prophecy of the first angel’s message have its most direct fulfillment?

  • In America where William miller and his associates is instructed to preach

Why was the first angel’s message given?

  • Because the principals of the churches have been corrupted

How is the first angel’s message announcing” the hour of His judgment is come,” a part of the gospel?

  • The message points to the closing work of Christ’s ministration for the salvation of man

What were the consequences to the churches when they rejected the first angel’s message?  [A how problem]

  • The first angels message was only a warning that was rejected so God sent the second angel to tell that he had rejected them and that they had now become part of fallen Babylon

How does the first angel’s message influence the second angel’s message?

  • The first angels message was a warning and was rejected thus the second angel had to come to tell us the consequence

How is the first angel’s message still relevant today?

  • We must be prepared this time and accept his message instead of rejecting it When the first angel called he called and told us to keep his commandments and because he has not told us otherwise we should still be keeping his commandments

What is the “action step” for the first angel’s message?

  • To spread the gospel to all people and in revelation 14:7 “He said in a loud voice, “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water.” So he is also telling us to Fear God, and Worship him.

How does the first angel’s message, as it was perceived during the advent movement of 1840-1844, fit together with the actual content of the first angel’s message?

  • The first angels message was some what of a test you could say because when the world thought that the lord was coming and was going to judge them they were wrong because he was not cleansing the earth he was cleansing the sanctuary and when he did not come the real test started it separated the real Christians from the people who professed that they were Christians but in there heart they were not
